The Motor Room is located beneath the maneuvering room. This view (looking forward) shows Main Motors #1 & #2, built by the Elliot Company. Each of the main motors is connected to a Westinghouse reduction gearbox, and each gearbox was connected to one propeller shaft. In addition to the main motors and reduction gearboxes, this compartment also contains the # 1 and #2 cooling water pumps, cooling water circulation manifolds, lube oil standby & transfer pump, shaft revolution transmitters and packing glands.
